I have attended a baby shower of an Asian-Indian couple that is amidst an American community. It’s amazing how they put up a baby shower with a touch of each culture but it still follows the general theme of a baby shower that is to welcome the soon birth of the baby in celebration and by congratulating the mother-to-be for carrying the baby in her womb.

In deciding what refreshments to serve on a baby shower, the planner must take into consideration the venue and the theme of the baby shower party. If you are thinking of the most convenient and easiest manner to serve food, I suggest do a buffet set up or a bunch of small bowls and plates for vegetables and dip, cookies, appetizers or sweets that are scattered around the room. This way the guests would gander around the room and help the socialization a lot easier. Finger foods also allow the visitors to nibble while interacting with others. But if you have the time and money, then prepare a sit-down meal for everyone. If the shower will be held on a beautiful afternoon, serve celery sticks and mini-quiches to plates of M&Ms or chocolate truffles but if it is an evening event then desserts will be better.
For the drinks, have some delicious and fun virgin drinks in camaraderie with the expectant mother or just have several choices of drinks without alcohol on it like juice, punch, lemonade, ice tea, water of even milk that is served in a baby bottles with straw. And if the soon-to-be-mom is okay with alcoholic drinks then feel free to have margaritas or white wine.
