One of my best friends is soon to be giving a birth to a triplet and everyone is just so excited for her. Most especially her sisters who are organizing her baby shower to celebrate the coming of three little angels into their family and mine as well. So, when I received the invitation for the baby shower party I was thrilled especially when I read the note that each guest should bring beads. I know there is something fun to do and I just can’t wait.

The activities would usually gander around blanket making, sewing baby garments, you know granny sort of activities. For the gift, the grandmother cannot do cash or gift registry as it would be quite tacky for them to ask specifically what they want even though they are the primary caretaker of the baby. And just like the conventional baby shower, grandma herself cannot throw the baby shower herself. Her friends, colleagues, family, neighbors or anyone she knows but not her.

I have attended a baby shower of an Asian-Indian couple that is amidst an American community. It’s amazing how they put up a baby shower with a touch of each culture but it still follows the general theme of a baby shower that is to welcome the soon birth of the baby in celebration and by congratulating the mother-to-be for carrying the baby in her womb.
